Art is Everywhere

I was really excited when I came up with this idea. I was just doing different splatters of color on the page for a background. Then I started to look at the pattern that it made and I just really liked it. I decided that instead of it being a background it was the end product. I liked the idea that if you look at anything you could find something artist about it. So that was the message. Art is everywhere. I didn’t the opposite page the same way. It continues the thought that Art is in everything.imageimage  I would suggest that when you get a chance just look around and see what catches your eye. It doesn’t have to be a beautiful sunset or a perfect rose bud. Just look for something artistic, anything that captures your attention. It could be the shape of your child’s coat that has been strewn across the floor, the splatters of baby food on the wall, a line of mowed grass or a shadow on the floor. There is art everywhere, sometimes we just have to look.

Hunger Games Abstract

I go though phases where I like to do a lot of similar things or styles and then go off to something else. I have an obsessive yet short attention span. Lately I’ve been making a lot of Fan Art .  These are some of the paintings I’ve done for The Hunger Games. image Here are a couple more picturesimage Catching fire

Art is Necessary

This is from my “Art” art journal.  I did this journal a little differently than most. For a lot of it I created the pages while I was in meetings. I found out in college that I could sometimes concentrate better if I was doodling. This has kind of continued on. So I would take my journal with me and when I got a chance(when it wasn’t distracting) I would work on it. The results are more simple, because I couldn’t use paint or any mixed media material,l but I think it’s successful.

Creativity Definance

I did two versions of this.

I liked this thought. I think when we create we are doing something that hasnt been done before  and that defies the common beliefs. I think of different eras of art and how those artists defied what was accepted to create their own style. I think now there are no limits to what we can try.

Iron Man Fan Art

imageI was pretty happy with the way this one turned out. I think his eye especially looks good. It was the last layer and it was interesting to see what a difference that one piece could make. He has very distinctive eyes. If you just look at that one eye you can tell who it is.

On most of my other fan art I do the background first then add the stencil. This one originally had a solid red background but when I was finished I still felt like it was missing something. That’s when I added the flames. I think it turned out pretty well.

What is your foundation?

I heard I talk a couple of years ago asking this question and it kinda stayed with me. It made me consider what I stand for. What is my life based on? Are they good things that are going to bring me strength? Or are they meaningless things that wont matter when things get difficult? It definitely gave me something to think about.

R2-D2 Fan Art

image This is the last in the Star Wars on vinyl series. I did the painting on this one a little differently. I usually start with the darkest color then layer the light ones until I end with white. This time I started with the white, because there was so much more of this. I seemed to work. I just had to be careful about the way I kept track of which stencil went with which color, since they were out of sequence for me.
