There’s kind of a lesson end learned with this painting. I was going to use heavy gel medium and black paint to cover the painting and give it texture. Then scratch the word TRY through the black layer to be able to see the multicolored painting underneath. Well instead if using black paint I used black gesso. Let’s just say it was not successful. You can’t scratch through gesso very well. So I had to change direction and cut the letters out of a different painting. I then amended the title to TRY……again.
I have a pretty handkerchief that belonged to my grandmother. It’s been sitting in a cedar chest for about 25 years because it was too delicate to use. I finally figured out a way to use it. By putting the handkerchief between the glass it will stay protected yet still be used. A piece of this little treasure can now be shared between me, my sister and my daughters.
